Emerging Technology Trands
In Software Engineering at university course of Kelaniya GNCT course our lecturer Mrs. Sarasi Senadeera organized a very important industrial season about future Technologies. The season conducted by Mr. Srinath Perera VP research, WSO2. He gave us very good ideas about future technologies and history of technologies. These are the main points he talked about
- History of Trends
- Understanding Trends: Garner Hype Cycle
- Carlota Perez Framework
- Forces at Play
- Key Trends
- Current Trends
Analytics &AI
3D printing
• APIs - Expose Services beyond Organizations
• Analytics & AI - Enable Computer based Data Driven Decisions
• IoT - Connect real world ( meat space) to digital world to make vision
of automation and decision making ubiquitous.
• Bots - Idea that bots would make much natural interface for humans
Emerging
• Blockchain - A Distributed Immutable Ledger that provides trust without a third party
• Sharing Economy - Extending pay per use idea from Cloud to everyday life
• AR/VR - Immersive virtual Environments
• Quantum Computing - Use the strange ability of subatomic particles to exist in more
than one state at any time solve search problems faster
• 3D Printing - Ability to produce a real world design based on a digital specification
This is the summary what we learned. At the end of the session, we were given the chance to ask questions about the lecture and the first 3 to ask questions were given pen drives as a compliment. And also all of us were given pens from WSO2.
